Audi S6 and S6 Avant Remakes

Posted on: September 15, 2011

The Audi S6 and the S6 Avant offer uncompromising practicality and they feature a new engine, which is a 4-liter, twin-turbo that combines power with low consumption of fuel. They both use the 309 kilowatt (420hp) version of the 4.0 TFSI. The engine offers a constant 550 Nm of torque. The S6 accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds while the S6 Avant reaches this speed in 4.9 seconds. The models both have a high speed of 155.34 mph, which is electronically governed even though it is only a formality.

Audi's strategy for downsizing is brought down to the high performance class by the 4.0 TFSI. The fuel consumption of this car on average is 24.25 miles per gallon in the S6 and 24.0 miles per gallon in the S6 Avant. This is very low fuel consumption and it is achieved due to the incorporation of various technologies. These include the start-stop and recuperation systems in addition to the cylinder management system known as cylinder on demand.

The power transmission in these models extends the Vorsprung durch Technik of Audi. The engine's power goes through a 7-speed transmission, which shifts fast. The transmission system is a Quattro permanent four wheel drive system and it utilizes torque vectoring and a center differential that is self-locking. When desired, Audi also complements Quattro with sport differential, which serves the role of actively distributing power between the back wheels, but this is optional.

These models come with an adaptive air suspension sport, which is tautly tuned and has variable damping. It lowers the car's body by ten millimeters and provides for precise handling and comfort. The models have disc brakes that are ventilated internally from the front and back. The other option available for brakes is ceramic discs made from carbon fiber.

The Audi S6 and S6 Avant come with aluminum wheels that are designed uniquely with a 5 parallel-spoke design. The two models come with a select driving dynamics system and it serves a number of functions such as modifying gas pedal characteristics and servo boosting the electromechanical steering. Drivers can adjust how these systems operate in five stages.

The dynamics of these two models are affected in a large manner by their bodies. The bodies are light in weight since they are made of 20 percent aluminum. The curb weight of the Audi A6 is just 4,177.76 pounds and that of the S6 Avant is 4.299.01 pounds. The interior of these vehicles features sporty elegance. The key has S6 badges, the leather sport steering wheel has colored stitching and the shift paddles are aluminum.

There are four materials to choose from when it comes to the decorative inlays. The standard material is matt brushed aluminum and the options you have are layered Beaufort oaks, fine grain ash and carbon. The remakes have a wide list of equipment that includes LED rear lights, xenon plus headlights and parking brake that is electromechanical among others.
